Planning and heritage feasibility advice for re-use and conversion of listed buildings and grounds.

Project Details

East Hill House is a Grade I listed building complex comprising a large C18th former merchant’s house set within a designated conservation area.  The site is also located within the Roman Town wall and due to the level of archaeological interest is also set within a scheduled monument.

The client acquired the property in a poor state of repair from a development company with a view to refurbishing it and bringing the building and grounds back into beneficial use. Given the level of architectural and historic interest within this important site, special attention was given to design and heritage asset impact and setting considerations.  The project also involved developing a landscape strategy for the grounds and securing planning, listed building and scheduled monument consents for the provision of a new boundary wall to the western boundary abutting Lewis Gardens.
