Planning strategy advice to secure planning permission for a Wellness Garden at Colchester Hospital, supported by the Royal Horticultural Society.

LPP has obtained planning permission for a new Wellness Garden at Colchester Hospital on behalf of the Royal Horticultural Society. The development was intended to improve the existing landscaped area at the hospital site to provide a welcoming entrance space, as well as an area for rest and relaxation, for staff, patients and visitors alike.

The 0.36ha site is located centrally within the 19.3ha Hospital campus and the RHS provided clever design and activities to make the space interactive.

Planning permission was secured in October 2023 for the development which included replacement of existing and provision of new hard standing areas and ancillary works, including lighting. The work has now been completed at the hospital and is open for the public’s enjoyment.
