Instruction – Planning strategy advice to promote the restoration of a former minerals site for inert landfill

Client – JJ Prior Ltd

Project Details – JJ Prior operate a quarrying based sand and gravel business utilising wharf facilities and a river barge fleet to supply the aggregates industry in London. A mineral site restoration phase is now due and to facilitate operations, the site is being promoted for the purpose of inert landfilling through the Essex CC & Southend-on-Sea BC Joint Replacement Waste Local Plan. Future commercial objectives for site aftercare, and diversification of the wider Estate are also being reviewed

LPP’s role
– Planning strategy advice in support of inert landfilling objectives and wider site diversification for leisure and recreation uses
– Appointment and coordination of the specialist consultancy team and project management
– Public consultation and submission of representations to the Essex CC & Southend-on-Sea BC Joint Replacement Waste Local Plan
– Ongoing liaison with the Waste Planning Authority, statutory consultees, Parish Council and third parties in relation to the proposals for inert landfill
