St Clements Hospital, Ipswich

Mixed Use Development Strategy  – New Healthcare, Residential and Open Space Uses

Instruction – Planning strategy advice in support of land owner’s Estate and Disposal Strategy

Client – Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust

Project Details – St Clements is a substantial Hospital complex comprising a former mental health asylum set within established parkland grounds. As part of a multi-million modernisation programme for improved patient services a new low secure unit was provided leaving the majority of the site surplus to NHS requirements

Consequently a housing led redevelopment strategy was formulated, and following an extensive ‘masterplan led’ public consultation exercise an outline planning application was submitted for the conversion of the C19th hospital buildings and site redevelopment for 227 dwellings and community facilities. Planning approval was granted in July 2015
