Bartlet Convalescent Home, Felixstowe

Instruction – Providing planning advice and developing a scheme to secure planning and listed building approval as part of site disposal process

Client – NHS Suffolk

Project Details – The former Bartlet Convalescent Home comprises a large Grade II* listed main hospital building, annexe and former grounds. The buildings were declared surplus by NHS Suffolk and vacated from 2008 and the health trust wished to dispose of the property. Consequently to add certainty and value to the Trust’s asset, a high quality heritage sensitive scheme was promoted leading to planning and listed building consent being granted and the site being sold. Following negotiations with the LPA and preparation of a viability appraisal all S.106 planning obligations were avoided
